The platform model: marketplace, not employer
Helpling is a marketplace platform that connects customers to cleaners employed by registered partner cleaning agencies. Helpling does not employ cleaners directly.
The employment relationship sits between the cleaner and the partner cleaning agency. What Helpling sets is the platform standard that every partner agency must meet before submitting a cleaner for listing.
Step 1: Apply through a partner agency
The application process begins with a partner agency — not with Helpling directly. The partner agency handles employment paperwork and submits the cleaner for platform vetting once the standard employment checks are complete.
Step 2: Platform-level legal and background checks
Helpling requires every cleaner submitted for listing to clear platform-level identity and legal checks. This covers right-to-work verification in Singapore and a requirement for a clean criminal record. Anyone with a criminal record is not approved for listing.
Step 3: Skills and aptitude test
The final platform check is a practical assessment that tests cleaning knowledge and ability against a defined Helpling standard — including handling of fabrics, surfaces, and appliances. Cleaners who do not pass are not listed.
After listing on the platform
Once a cleaner is listed, their record on the platform is monitored through customer feedback. Concerns raised to Home Advisors trigger a review. Where warranted, a cleaner can be removed from the platform.
